Looking at the Vandread timeline, I've run into a stumbling block. Basically put, I need people who are willing to be Dita's major gattai partners, 2-3 per unit. We've already figured out the Blue Giant partners, but there needs to be some for the Crab and Eagle Units.

Blue Giant - Heavy Offense and Defense. A very balanced mecha. I tend to use a mix of real and supers and people in vanguards.
Gattai Partners - Mark, Julia, Chrono

Silver Eagle - Emphasis on speed and piercing attacks, the Eagle is made for characters with good CR and the speed or striking abilities. I need at least 2 choices for this. Also, real-types are encouraged for this form, since it gives them an edge they commonly do not have.

Red Crab - the heavy defensive mecha, this mecha is designed to withstand and take a huge beating with bits that project energy shielding which can also be used for gravity manipulation and keeping pesky atmospheres from flying into sodding space. I could used 2-3 choices for this. Ideally also mystical units are suited for this, so supers are totally encouraged.

Basically put, the better CR Dita has with anyone, the better. Even sudden CR is allowed for gattai, as long as she is in one of the mecha. And those who have the best mecha go onto assisting with the Super Vandread. Which is a 5-man unit.

Any takers, suggestions on characters to join up Dita's little not-harem?

When I get Luka intro'd, she'd be ideal for Red Crab, since the Gokai Trailer is pretty much all defense.


I'm fine with Rinon, too, although... I'm not sure Gun Sniper really works for any. It's supposed to be speed and piercing attacks, but... well... We all know how badly Rinon spec'd it out with guns.

Probably Rinon's previous mecha was more suited for it than anything else. Cramming that Gun Sniper into a Dread might be a step down, the way Rinon fights... hmm...

I mean more due to the bit where Samus a) doesn't actually have a mech but a power suit, which would make any gattais awkward as hell, and b) Samus is really not the kind of person who would open even a smidge of her mind to someone she doesn't have absolute comraderie with. Which nobody in the Chalice is even close to yet. I'm pretty sure a mind like a steel ball is not very helpful to spiritual gattais :p.

If it's speed and piercing abilities for Silver Eagle, I'd suggest PRIME's Reinheit with it's Boxer pack. Arguably one of the fastest things on the Chalice, and PRIME's more than willing to try this "Gattai" thing himself.

The real issue is lack of CR, though.

I wanted to throw up Tatsu for this under the CR of 'Suddenly Tatsu explains Time Shinnangins!' Though I don't know if this CR is enough. But if you need defensive power for Red Crab, Tatsu's Fury is great with its' heavy armor and force field.

Let's be fair: Gattai happens with the most bare of CR ANYHOW in Vandread with little build up. It just takes a determined mind to do so. I would totally love Tatsu.

I think Char has had some decent CR with Dita, especially with how well she helped take care of him after he was nearly killed by Gato.

Yes that would be awesome. Once we've hurdled this mission, it's going to be loosened up a little for better gattai in missions.

Chrono's an interesting case here; he roasted the last Vanguard he was using, he doesn't have his handy-dandy magic stick, and he's currently learning to pilot Alexei's old Strayed. Borrowing another Vanguard puts him back in Blue Giant range; from the description above and Fenrir's description of how a NEXT flies for normal humans, the Strayed might qualify for Silver Eagle.

Seems about right. Either way, it really does help to have gattai versatility when dealing with the Dreads.
