Of the various devices I read about, the Beam Spray gun seemed like a neat weapon option that could be scaled down to a portable field gun.
Compared to other mobile suit beam weapons, it's tiny and compact, the Walther PPK of particle cannons. There'd be plenty of spare parts to work with, left over from One Year War stock (the chest pieces of Doms and the pistols of GMs respectively).
It'd be less powerful than a proportional PPC cannon, but as a neutral particle beam, less likely to give off lethal static discharges that would harm a ground crew.
Most interestingly, it would have an adjustable aperture, allowing an Elemental crew to switch between a compressed armor piercing mode and a scatter beam mode that overloads sensors Dom style.
A beam spray field gun would not only give an Elemental crew extra punch, but give them some interesting tactical options.
